Découvrez DID en Direct

Développement international Desjardins (DID) is a component of the Desjardins Group of financial cooperatives. For over 39 years, the DID mission has been to support the creation and development of financial institutions that facilitate access to financial services for communities in developing countries. A number of these financial cooperatives take inspiration from the Desjardins model to plan their growth, computerization and product development.

Get together with your colleagues and teach them about DID, an example of the Desjardins Group’s cooperative difference in action!

How? Download the following audio and video clips and call a special meeting to present them to your colleagues.

DID institutional videos:

Making financial services accessible

Ensuring better access to financial services constitutes, in the case of several developing countries, a major challenge. To succeed, the financial institutions must introduce innovative strategies that make it possible to reach groups that are usually marginalized. This video presents several of these strategies that have been integrated in Mexico, Mali and elsewhere to better serve the members and advise them as their needs change.

Serving Entrepreneurs

Around the world, entrepreneurs have a great economic impact in their communities. For this reason, DID suggests to its partners - financial institutions that facilitate access to financial services for communities in developing countries - that they specialize and professionalize the services offered to this clientele. This video shows the impact of introducing a financial centre for entrepreneurs (CFE), with DID support, on members, the financial institutions involved in the CFE and the community overall.

In Haiti, parents are often required to put off sending children to school since they do not have sufficient funds available when needed. To help overcome this problem, Haitian financial cooperatives now offer loans for schooling, an innovative financial product designed with DID collaboration.

Using handheld computers with transaction software designed by the technological solutions team at DID, SERFIR financial cooperatives provide transaction services for savings and loans in remote rural communities.

Computerization

In developing countries, a number of financial cooperatives supported by DID still perform operations manually. However, the volume of transactions has grown to the point that computerization has become a question of survival for them. Computerization makes it possible to increase the speed and reliability of operations. And modernizing the financial cooperative increases member confidence.
