On October 19 and 20, Développement international Desjardins (DID) and several of its partners will converge on Cartagena, Colombia, for the 5th annual Convention of Agricultural Finance and Commercialization (FYCA). This year, for the first time, DID is taking part in organizing the annual meeting jointly with the Colombia Mercantile Exchange, the Colombian Farmer Society (SAC) and Portafolio, a Colombian business publication. The Government of Canada (Global Affairs Canada) and FADQI, (Financière agricole du Québec – Développement international), DID’s financial and technical partners respectively in the PASAC support program for the agricultural finance sector in Colombia, are also adding their efforts this year to the organizing team.
Representatives from DID and several of its partner organizations will speak at the event to share their vision and describe the progress made in areas as diversified as agricultural finance and insurance, value chains and the role of producer organizations, the environment, financial literacy, gender equality and succession planning for farmers.
