DID offers new short training courses in governance to directors of financial cooperatives

Over the past four months, as part of its Integration of good governance practices project, Développement international Desjardins (DID) has developed and tested new short training courses focused on financial analysis, risk management and professional ethics, all of which are essential elements for good governance practices in a financial institution.

These training courses are designed for elected directors of base cooperatives within DID partner financial institutions. Other short training courses are currently being developed and tested under the project.

Along with these training courses, DID has designed a series of tools and methodologies for good governance in community finance institutions and has carried out an in-depth study on gender equality on the board of directors of financial cooperatives in the FECECAM cooperative network in Benin and the PAMÉCAS cooperative network in Senegal.

The Integration of good governance practices project undertaken by DID targets all community finance institutions in the Proxfin international network and is carried out with financial support from Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD).
